Farmers, traders take out torchlight march "Mashal Jalao Sarkar Jagao"

HAGS had organized a protest on 25th May to highlight the sorry state of our road from Theog- Kotkhai-Hatkoti-Rohroo (TKHR) road.

“The apple growers in Jubbal, Kotkhai, Rohru and Chopal are suffering losses as the successive state governments have failed to improve the condition of the road, which is one of the busiest stretches,” he said. “The company is misleading the government and we want Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to travel on the road to know the ground reality,” said Chauhan. “A bandh was observed in Jubbal, Rohru, Hatkoti, Sawra, Aanti and other places,” he said. “Commuters have been suffering for the past many years. The company has failed to repair the road. The project has been hanging fire for the past nine years,” lamented the farmers.

Chauhan said the HAGS had asked the government if the company would be able to complete work by June 30, 2016. He said they had held a similar protest early this month, but failed to get any response. The HAGS demanded that the government should take steps to get the work completed, adding that there should be an alternative route for the timely transportation of apples this season.

CM's assurance
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh assured apple growers at Parala of doing the needful. He said the Theog-Kharapathar-Hatkoti road project was his baby and that the work would be completed by 2016. The 22-km stretch from Theog to Gumma and the 12-km stretch from Rohru to Hatkoti would be metalled by the end of next month. He added that the Mendli-Tikkar-Baghi roadthe would be the alternative route for the transportation of apples
